Presumably a tower of the city fortification system from Frankenberg’s founding period (13th century). When the old town was expanded around the “Heide”, the city wall was demolished and built on the east side of Gadengasse. It is assumed that this tower with the cellar cross vault was preserved and remodeled in 1568.
