The foundation stone was laid in 1286 by Landgrave Heinrich I. It was modelled on the Elisabeth Church in Marburg (Lahn). Choir and attached St Mary&#8217;s Chapel (completed in 1380) by Tyle von Frankenberg.  <\/p>\n<p>Outstanding stonemasonry work. Gothic vine paintings in the vault caps &#8211; around 1485.
